- Employment tribunal fees cases stayed – Cases arising from the Supreme Court decision in R (on the application of Unison) v Lord Chancellor, which declared employment tribunal fees unlawful, have been stayed (Personnel Today)
- Camden Council chase worker for £10,000 legal fees after failed tribunal claim – Camden’s biggest union claims the Town Hall attempted to “punish” a disgruntled member of staff by trying to make her pay £10,000 in legal fees after her discrimination case was thrown out (Camden News Journal)
- District judges win right to extra pay for ‘acting up’ in NI county court – Five district judges in Northern Ireland have been unlawfully discriminated against while “acting up” as deputy county court judges (DCCJ), an employment tribunal has ruled (The Camden Newsletter)
- Mother accepts settlement over pregnancy discrimination – A woman who lost her job while she was on maternity leave has accepted a £9,000 settlement from her ex-employer after taking a sex discrimination case (BBC)
- Worker fired over social media meat deal post – Deli bosses fired a long-standing employee after he shared a Facebook post about discount meats with his girlfriend. Michael Hayward, who worked for Chadwick’s, in Standish, recommended a firm called Fresh Meat Packs North West to his then-girlfriend Helen Bennett, on social media, an employment tribunal heard (Wigan Today)
- Ex-KWM staff ‘offered £4k each’ over redundancy consultation – Thhe administrators of the defunct European arm of King & Wood Mallesons have confirmed there was a ‘technical breach’ of a consultation process on axing staff before the firm went under (The Law Society Gazette)
- Martin Lauchlan starts legal action against East Kilbride FC over £20k bonus row – Martin Lauchlan is taking East Kilbride FC to an employment tribunal over £20k worth of unpaid bonuses (The Daily Record)
- Agency worker’s Preston care centre assault claim dismissed by tribunal judge – An agency cleaner who made allegations he had been sexually assaulted while working at a charitable neurological care centre has had his claims dismissed by an employment tribunal (The Lancashire Evening Post)
- Employment status: Pimlico Plumbers case heads to Supreme Court – The Supreme Court has granted Pimlico Plumbers permission to appeal against the Court of Appeal decision that a plumber who signed an agreement with the company describing him as self-employed was in fact a worker (Personnel Today)
- Company fined after injury to worker who was entangled in netting – A vegetable grower has been sentenced after a worker became entangled in netting on a field near Boston, Lincolnshire (HSE)
